Long time no post...

I could tell you about my day and stuff like that but I promised myself this isn't that kind of blog. I have to find something interesting and that I feel needs to shared or shouted about. Nothing really amazing has been happening worth noting and making a whole blog entry about. So here some events the last month that could have made it to a blog entry

PS3 Firmware 2.41
It came out some weeks ago and gives us XMB access in game but still needs some fine tuning. The access is a bit slow and all games need to be patched to use the XMB in game music option. Also included is trophies which is a nice feature but again games need to be patched and some games you might have to play all again!

Itouched the IPhone
I had my first play with ye old 2G iPhone and I was impressed. The new 3G one is out I might consider it when I upgrade my phone. Sill missing video calling, video recording and flash for camera. my problem is I'm looking for a phone for photos as well, so i can snap away and not worry about how there going to come out. This is why i have a cybershot phone and so do many other people.

Hancock
I went to see it at the cinema if you had not already of guessed by the title. The film was funny and good but as with Indiana Jones I feel it lost the plot at the end. Having said that this films ending wasn't as bad as Indiana Jones...

Will Smith
Why is he always so nice(not a bad thing). I want someone to push him just so i can see him shout at someone.

Review: Cloverfield

When I first heard about this film my expectation were low. I thought "Oh no Blair witch project meets Godzilla". Yes that analogy was right but my "Oh no" was unjust.

The film starts off pretty slow. For the first 20 Min's you are shown a leaving party for one of the main character this is a bit bland but works well at showing the people and there relationships. Then when the action kicks in, it KICKS in. I can't explain it but from the first point of action it draws you in. The whole camcorder thing works very well in this film and makes the action more intense. I don't want to do a long drawn out review so I am going to keep it short and sweet. The special effect are the good and get past the first 20 Min's and the film really is a roller coaster ride I was griped and impressed by how much this gripped me.....

If I was going to nit pick I could argue how the camera survived some of the scenes and the 20 Min's beginning sequence. But because the film was so gripping it kind of voids out those faults.

So all in all I would recommend you turn the lights off and watch this on blu-ray if you can.

News: T Shirt Ban

Just found this story on The Sun website. A man was told he could not fly from an airport (Terminal 5 none the less!) unless he removed a transformers t-shirt with a gun on it. This is just ridiculous. I understand we are fighting against terrorism etc. What he going to do with a t shirt with a gun on it. Pull the gun out of the t-shirt and shoot people. Its more realistic if he took the t-shirt off and beat someone with it. I hear about people being beaten to death with t shirts all the time...

The Chirs Moyles Show BBC Radio 1!

Here's my story....

I work in an office on my own and needed something different to listen to, so I started listening to Radio 1. I chose Radio 1 because it has no adverts I hate adverts on the radio. So I would get back from my duties about 9:30 and always catch the end of the Chris Moyles show. I liked what I herd in those 30 Min's so I decided "I have an MP3 player with a radio on why don't I listen to it on that". I Started listening to the show and found the show was really funny. So I fully recommend you give it a listen even if its just the Podcast Here. I listen now almost religiously every morning from 6:30am to 10am. Its a great way to start your morning, Always makes me laugh....

The Ugly...

OK the movie was NOT that bad but the silly UFO ending really ruined the WHOLE movie for me. It felt like George got the scrips mixed up with his current star wars project (My Rant on George Lucas Coming Soon) or he just copied and pasted from old scrips!

All of sudden at the end we have Indiana Jones son who he has neglected for 12 years or whatever saying "Wow i have a great dad" and the mother doesn't seem to care either. Sorry there was a little fight in a vehicle well that makes everything OK!. Italic means sarcastic...

Also I swear the whole wedding sequence at the end was like watching the end of a star wars movie, might as well have had R2D2 going beep beep boop and they all laugh. I was ready for it fold in and play the star wars music!

If you are going to watch this film then be warned, walk out 30 Min's before the end.

My Rant: The GTA inside you...

OK this is not a review of the game. This is about a article in today metro I was reading. The article was about the queue violence. I was shocked to read that the person who was in the front of the queue got stabbed then in his condition went home to get a knife to get revenge so to speak. This angers me because you know the Video Game Violence protesting are going to be all over this. Here the facts if you under 18 you shouldn't be playing the game it has a 18 BBFC rating. If your over 18 and play the game and it influences you in some way to commit a crime you clearly got something mentally wrong. Rock star have made a great game they should not be to blame for these kind of actions, Parents and The individual should. These people are ruining for the rest of us!!

Desperate Housewives (Season 4 Episode 12, In Buddy's Eyes)
I wasn't impressed with last weeks episode so I wasn't sure what to expect this week. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed to recover some of that thrill you get from watching Desperate Housewives. It bought back some old stories you may have forgotten(<----Key Word). All in all it was good episode and gets back into the swing of things.

South Park (Season 12 Episode 7, Super Fun Time)
Yet again another great episode of South Park. This episode was mainly based around Butters and Cartman and I am a big fan of the character Butters(Oh Hamburgers!). If your a fan of Butters then you will love this episode(Allot of Butters moments!) . Must Watch!

The Apprentice UK (Season 4 Episode 5)
This week was all about making a new flavour of ice cream and selling it. Both teams did well. Also I felt Lucinda did well as project manager. I am trying to keep this spoiler free so I cant really say much more. If you got nothing else to do or watch, give this a watch...

My Rant: Drivers Strike?

I have to catch a bus to work locations everyday so I go past allot of petrol stations and to me it seems like petrol prices are going up 2 pence once every 1-2weeks! I am not over exaggerating. Today I saw the price £1.24 per litre for diesel and £1.14 for unleaded etc. I swear 2 weeks ago they were 5 or 6 pence cheaper. Yes some petrol station are cheaper but even £1.14 per litre of diesel is asking too much and PLUS the fact that it seems to go up by 2 pence regularly. I DON'T EVEN DRIVE and this is annoying me, I feel sorry for you drivers.

My Rant: Fail! Remix!

For a while now people have used YouTube to post video of generally anything. For me the most annoying videos are the Remixes of other videos. I mean how many times can the star wars kid be funny with different music and repeated parts. Also whats up with these clips simlar to shows like jackass and you been framed, where someone falls off there bike it comes up with FAIL! in big letters its ridiculous and annoying.

PS3: Firmware 2.30

My first PS3 post. In case you didn't know it the latest PS3 update is out and has a new updated PlayStation store which is faster but still doesn't have much content!. Also it has DTS HD Master Audio support for all you HD enthusiast on Blu-ray Playback.

The Latest Findings

It looks like they have also updated the PS2 backwards compatiblity on 60gb and 80gb(sorry 40gb owners). I could not play Metal Gear Solid 2 and Silent Hill 3 befour but now I can yay!

TV: Some Opinions

Desperate Housewives (Season 4 Episode 11 Sunday)
Due to the writers strike there has a been a huge gap between episodes so its been a while since I've seen any episodes. I watched the latest episode and I am not sure what I was expecting but it didn't seem to draw me back into it. Also i cant remember whats being going on. I hope the next episode has a more involving story...

South Park (Season 12 Episode 6 Over Logging)
South Park is always the highlight of my week(TV Wise) when Family Guy isn't about. For me South Park keeps get better because the first seasons were not that funny and also I think South Park grows on you, but these episodes are really pushing the bar. Normally South Park has some hidden message, in the latest episode I wasn't sure what the message was.

The Apprentice UK (Season 4 Episode 4)
The second to last episode was pretty crap not much to talk about there. The last episode was OK. I am getting the feeling that Lucinda gets picked on a bit. This is spoiler free, but who got fireD in the episode deserved to get fired!

TV: Britain's Got Talent

This show is about people coming on stage and show there so called talentS. Now i don't watch it but I am spoon feed clips of the show on GMTV and newspapers etc. The clip below is the latest talent to hit the show....

Lets take a look. He got bullied, I don't mean to sound heartless, but most of us get bullied at his age. I am not saying his voice isn't good it's very good but its the same old same old! Plus he gives a soppy story ahhh! then the cheesy "YOU RAISE ME UP MUSIC!" it's so annoying. Its like Big Brother even if i don't watch the show it will talked about on every channel and newspaper, you cant escape it!

TV: Skins, Season 2 Episode 10

After last episode I wasn't expecting much from this one but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised...

Spoilers Ahead

In this episode we go back to tony and gang in UK as they get there A Level results. Also we have Chris's Funeral which is quite sad. Chris's father tell Sid that he and any of Chris's Friends are not aloud to go. So they have to sneak in. There was a good soundtrack (Love the end song) and at the end of this episode I was left feeling good, and fine the fact they are going to use a new cast for Series 3. No this episode does not answer any of the question in my last review but now I will pass these questions to SID to ask Cassie How did she get there? Where did she get the money? and Why New York? and then forward the answer onto me! He should also tell her "STOP MUCKING ME AROUND BITCH!" and ask himself Why Cassie?!

My Rant: Game, PS3, Condemned 2

I have recently played condemned 2 on PS3 and here what annoyed me about it...

Story
The game is about… Well I am not sure. I haven’t played the original and I find this game doesn’t really explain allot of what is going on. You can sort of get a snippet of what is going on but I never really fully understood who I way and why I was there. It's got more a story that your average game but the cut scenes don’t really draw me in, to bother understanding what is going on.

Game play
At first the game play felt new and fresh but for me slowly became annoying. You kill people by using melee combat mainly and sometimes you have to do button combos. OK so what wrong with that, well nothing when used in the right context? Most of the time combat gets stuck and you can’t kill someone etc unless you press the buttons at the right time etc. So they can just keep smacking you but you can’t do any damage to them unless you press or do the right thing. This becomes annoying fast and really lets this game down. I would like the option to kill them one way or another…

Graphics
Graphics in this game are average. Sometimes the graphics wow me, with the black gue stuff everywhere. This game tried to create atmosphere by fuzzing every now and then and for one level it did this too frequent it became annoying.

Sound(Take note)
This game suffers from serious sound issues. It constantly cuts out and it’s not my receiver etc. Very bad sound, you have been warned

Overall
The game brings something new to the Horror Genre in games. I can’t think of anything that hasn't annoyed me about this game. Please note this is a rant about annoyances in the game not a review!

TV:Skins, Season 2 Episode 9

Yesterday I watched Skins Episode 9. For those who don't know what Skins is, its hard to describe click here for official website.

Spoilers Ahead

I Have to say I wasn't impressed by this episode. Mainly because it was based around the character Cassie and to be Honest I don't like the character Cassie. In this episode Chris dies and Cassie is there at the moment of death, Naturally she is a little rattled and she runs away. Here the thing, all of a sudden we cut to her in New York. My questions are How did she get there?, Where did she get the money? and Why did she go there?. Then we follow her journey in New York which isn't that eventful, I was too busy being baffled by the fact she was all of sudden in New York. Another Point is, I was waiting for it to cut back to UK to see what was happening with Chris but once in New York it stayed there. I hope in the next episode they answer some of the questions I highlighted. Skins has some explaining to do... Until next episode muwahaha!

My Rant: World of Borecraft...

This is not just about World of Warcraft it is about the latest craze in online gaming MMORPG. I have played Star Wars Galaxies briefly and I downloaded a free trial of World of Warcraft. In order to get anywhere you need to do missions etc e.g. get 10 boar snouts. The trouble is, this is mainly what this game and most MMORPG games are based on. These games lack depth and story. Your next mission is to collect or hunt something different and then bring it back to the person who asked you to do it, then you get a reward e.g. Sword of Metatron! and XP Points. XP Points help you level up for example to get to level 10 you need 110 XP points. With Each Level you get to chose what you want to upgrade e.g. strength agility attack and all that RPG stuff. Let me compare this to Oblivion on PS3. Oblivion has more depth and story and when you attack someone or something you press the action button and your character attacks in real time and blocks etc if you want to attack something on World of Warcraft just press the mouse button 5 times and you have selected to attack them 5 times( basically click and wait). Maybe I'm not a fan of this fighting system, Fair Enough. These games all do same tho. When you progress, mission get harder by asking you to get more of something or the monsters etc have higher levels. Now to the nitty gritty

Money, Money, Money..

OK so maybe I am just not a fan of this type of game but even hard core MMORPG or World of Warcraft player have to agree with me on this one. You payed £9.99 or £19.99 (Star Wars Galaxies) for these games and then they ask you to pay £8.99 or £7.99 a month to play it online. I agree that server upkeep and staffing cost, and it cant be free but £7.99 a month is a bit much even £3.99 is asking for allot. I would ONLY pay £2.99 a month for the service they offer MAX. Lets do that maths, OK so apparently there is 1.5 Million World of Warcraft (Source Google Search) users and 1 Million Star Wars Galaxies. That's £14,985,000 for World of Warcraft and about £19,990,000 for Star Wars. That's just from the game, that allot of profit but developers have to get paid. Now lets pay for our Internet at £8.99 for World of Warcraft and roughly £9.99 a month for Star Wars that's £13,485,000 for Wolrd of Warcraft and £9,990,000 for Star Wars a MONTH! from user! Come on, no one in there right mind can say that they need half that a month for admin costs, if So I want to work as one of their help desk operators! OK lets take my £2.99 a month that's £4,485,000 for World of Warfcraft and £2,990,000 for Star Wars, This is still allot a month. So lets half it to equivalent of £1.50 a month (my kind of price), now we got £2,242,500 for World of WarCraft and £1,495,000 for Star Wars. At £1.50 a month I think its more than enough for electricity, network, staffing, and maintenance etc. I think all user of any MMORPG should go on strike!

Another point is its got addictive game play and never ends meaning they just keep adding mission you will NEVER complete the game EVER.

EDIT: I have just been informed there are 9 million World of Warcraft users making it over £100 Million a month! more reason to go on Strike!

Review: Sony Ericsson K850i

I’ve had this phone for about 6 months now and I thought I would review it from that point. I previously owned a Nokia N73 and hated it. I was a bit dubious about switching to Sony Ericsson.

Look and Build
The phone looks stylish. It has a shiny outer surface and a silver side with a choice of green or blue trims. The buttons seem small but eventually become a joy to use. The phone is a bit bulkier than some phones today and because of this the phone appears heavier than it is. Warning this phone is a fingerprint magnet but putting it in your pocket give it a little clean up when you pull it out to use etc. The phone seems sturdy I have dropped it twice with no problems a few scratches and abrasion here or their.

Features
It makes calls! Only joking, yes it does make calls. It has java for all your gaming needs and lots of handy little programs like timer (I use that one a lot). I like the Track ID on most new Sony Ericsson phones it works well; I used it to identify a song from a car radio. I went from a N73 Symbian(What is Symbian? Click here) phone to a standard phone and I haven’t really missed any features except the crashing!

Cybershot(Camera)
This is the best camera phone I’ve had. The picture quality is really surprising. The flash is very bright, so bright that I used the torch function when we had a power cut and it lit up a whole room 7 meters by 7 meters. Now the only downsides is that sometimes the flash overdoes it making objects close white, and I don’t know if this is just my phone but sometimes the phone takes a picture and it all comes up black (Like the flash hasn’t gone off)

Music
You can also use this phone as a music player if you wish. It has the standard walkman phone features. I have to say I bought a normal headphone adapter for this phone and the sound quality wasn’t great (Please note my headphones are High Quality). Its ok for avid listener and if you just listen to music through phone speaker then you cant complain at all!

Final Verdict
Overall this phone does well is most areas the only problems I’ve had is SOMETIMES the phone restarts itself. It also feels a bit bulkier compared to other phones (N73 is bulkier). If I was to compare this to my old phone this would be a must have. It has a good battery life 2-3 days with general use. If you’re looking for a Walkman and a good camera phone look here.

My Rant: Standby....

I am all for saving the planet and being Eco friendly. But here is where i draw the line. Why should I have to turn my electrical products off at the wall to save energy or even use energy saving light bulbs. I will do these things to save me money but not to save the planet. I pay for the electricity, so shouldn't it be up to the energy suppliers to use renewable energy sources. I agree with buying Eco friendly cars but telling me to turn my stuff off at the wall is ridiculous unless the reason is to save money. Some products don't retain there settings e.g. Microwaves. I am aware they cannot cope with demand from renewables, but they should find a way so I can PAY for my electricity I want to use and not be guilt tripped into not using standby.

Review: SpeedLink Medusa SL-8793 5.1 Headset

My first Review. Let me start with the Speedlink Medusa 5.1 Headset I bought recently. So you got a PC with a 5.1 sound card but you don't have the space or money to buy 6 Speakers. Never fear the Speedlink Medusa 5.1 Headset is here, Or is it?

Why do i want 5.1 Sound I've only got 2 ears?

Well you can hear sound that are all around you all the time from Behind, In front, Side etc although you only have 2 ears you know where a sound is coming from. This is where 5.1 sound comes in.

Set-up
This headset comes in a handy carrying bag and with all the relevant connections for connecting to AMP or PC. It also has a USB to normal plug converter. Setup is simple just plug into your sound card with corresponding colour and plug USB into a free USB slot on your PC for power or use the plug adapter if no USB slots are free.

Sound Quality
I Have to say i was very impressed with the sound quality. I plugged in stereo at first and this was very good. Good bass and very dynamic. You can get a 5.1 Plug-in for Winamp which enables you to use this headset to its full potential download it Here.

Games
5.1 sound in games was also good. It gave that surrounding feel. I used Half Life Episode 2 and work like a dream. What didn't work like a dream was Windows Vista but that not the headset fault.

Build Quality
This is the only thing that puts this headset down. The headset feels very flimsy and the mic doesn't detach, but you can move the mic upwards out the way.

Value for Money
OK so this is the real point your looking for. You can buy the headset Here for around £45 which isn't bad compare to other 5.1 headsets. I Would say this is excellent value for money.

Summary
Overall This headset really is quite good. While it will never sound as good as real 5.1, It does a good job. Aside from some build issue the sound quality really shines and is a steal at £45.

For anyone who didn't know there is a new series of The Apprentice UK. I don't like this reality TV stuff but this show is actually quite interesting. In the last episode both teams had to set up a laundry business from scratch. I know your thinking that sounds really boring but it isn't. Spoilers Ahead!
Anyway just wanted to express my dismay with the girls team.They really did a crap job. They were asking for tips, TIPS! this is a business not a bar. They didn't even research the price so they quoted £5000 for a job that should cost around £300, I mean how embarrassing is that. Oh and to compensate for the extra £4700 they said that they had a 24 Hour hot line. I mean come on a 24 Hour hot line for laundry how would that go...
Customer "How is my shirt doing?"
Them"70% of the ironing is done?"
Customer "Wow thank you, i really just want them back on time i don't really care about the progress"
They also lost people laundry!. Finally the team leader was a bit of a bitch to be honest. So I guess that didn't help.

TV on Demand....(Internet TV 40D etc)

I recently downloaded 40D (Download it Here) and BBCI Player (Download it Here). They are really great little programs. 40D has most channel 4 shows old and new. BBCI player offer the option to download to your hard drive using the BBCI Player Download Manager. I would recommend you do this because viewing the content streamed loses allot of quality.

WARNING PLEASE READ!

What these programs don't tell you is that they will continue to upload off you without you knowing. What i mean by that is, the videos you downloaded off 40D will be shared to other people trying to download it. Not even if you close the program completely, it will still upload off you. Some Internet users have a limit to the amount of stuff they can download e.g. 2gb. This limit included the amount you can upload. If 40D is uploading off you and you cant stop it, it will cost you money if you go over your limit. Also if you play online games it will cause LAG because its using your Internet bandwidth. This also applies to Sky Anytime program.

Never fear ManicCow is here. There is a program called TV ON Demand Monitor and it works great. It blocks it from uploading when the program is not open. Ok Ok i think alot of people have got the wrong idea about this. They think there going to be some freak baby running around half cow, half human. That really isnt it and thats I think how most catholic people would see it. The fact is this is in a petree dish for no longer than 3 weeks. you need a micrscope to see what there doing. I don't like the idea that the catholic church wants to ban this because it could save lives. I mean even if there a 1% chance it could help people i think we should let them give it a shot.
